Special Note from Karate Canada regarding an update on the age eligibility rules for the 2018 National Championships:
Following the World Karate Federation’s recent publication of its Draft 2018 International Events Calendar (which still remains subject to change), Karate Canada has amended its Age Eligibility Criteria accordingly, for participation in the 2018 National Championships (March 9-11, Halifax NS). Please click HERE for the revised version of these criteria; the only changes are highlighted in yellow (having received some questions on this front, we’ve also taken this opportunity to further clarify the eligibility of athletes to compete in both the Youth and Cadet categories).
As promised earlier, here is the Age Eligibility Matrix for the 2018 National Championships (Appendix A).
We sincerely hope that this updated information will help you plan and prepare for the selection of your Teams, for their participation in the next edition of this great yearly event. Please feel free to share and disseminate this information with your members. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
PLEASE NOTE:
As per our President Mr. Craig Vokey:
“Despite the indication, on this draft calendar, that the 2018 Cadet & Junior Pan American Championships will be held in Venezuela, this will change to a different location, to be announced at a later date, as Venezuela is not currently acceptable as a host nation due to their domestic situation.”
