Interested In Becoming An Official?
All sports are dependent on 3 pillars – athletes, coaches and officials. Certification as a karate official offers the opportunity to make an important contribution to sport karate.
The Process
- The 1st Step – Find an Officials Clinic. Check the Karate BC website or contact us at officialsdev@karatebc.org
- The 2nd Step – Study the rules. See the latest WKF Competition Rules HERE.
- The 3rd Step – Attend the Officials Clinic. Clinics include review of the competition rules, discussion, role-playing and practice.
- The Final Step – Practical assessment at a tournament. You will get to practice what you learned, with support.
Some Benefits
- Officials certification (plus a minimum number of practical hours working at a tournament) qualifies students for High School External Sports Credits.
- Financial support is available to certified Officials when they officiate at Karate BC tournaments including a daily honorarium and travel expenses (depending on certification level).
- Advancement through Provincial certification levels can lead to National and International certification.
- Get the best seat in the house for the action at Local, Regional and Provincial Karate Tournaments!
