Sport BC’s Community Sport Hero Awards honor dedicated volunteers who make a profound impact in amateur sports across British Columbia. This year, Warren and Chantelle Grafton were recognized for their exceptional contributions to the Nechako Karate Club and the Prince George community. Rob Newman, President and CEO of Sport BC, highlighted their efforts, saying, “Volunteering is the backbone of sport in British Columbia, and these recipients are inspiring examples of the exceptional people volunteering to deliver amateur sport in Prince George.”
Rob Newman continued, “Over the past decade, Warren and Chantelle have shown unwavering dedication, guiding athletes of all levels and fostering a positive, inclusive environment. Chantelle’s personal resilience has been a source of inspiration, and together they’ve helped young athletes build strength, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Their leadership has truly shaped the future of the local karate community.”
As Executive Director, I am deeply proud to see such committed individuals recognized for their efforts in embodying the spirit of karate—discipline, inclusion, and community. Congratulations to Warren and Chantelle, and thank you for your outstanding contributions.
