Karate BC is seeking a dynamic, motivated and effective individual to fill the following BC Team coaching position. Duties are primarily focused on preparing our athletes for participation in the Karate Canada Senior Team Trials Event, September 2021.
Position: Female BC Team Event Coach, Karate BC Team, High-Performance Program (1 available)
Term: August 2021 to September 2021
Duties
- Event roles at Team Trainings and Nationals
- Supports & coaches BC Team athletes at KC Team Trials following Team Director’s directions
- Oversees & coaches BC team athletes at Team Selection event
- Attends Team training
- Available for selected regional training sessions
- Reviews age group athlete YTP forms and provides written feedback (5hrs/season)
- Available for all team trainings, and competitions in the 2021 season
- Strong commitment to the program’s operation and development
Supervision:
Responsible to the PSO’s Board of Directors through the Team Director and High-Performance Committee Chair.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coaching kata and/or kumite at the Karate Canada Nationals, the BC Winter
Games and/or as a Karate BC zone coach at the BC Provincial Championships - Experience training high-performance karate athletes
- NCCP Comp-Dev Trained or higher certification, or can attain this status by Team Trials 2021
Priority given to coaches who are Comp-Dev certified, trained, and in-training. - Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in written form
- Must have good administration, organizational and communication skills
- Completed Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Persons Check
Honorarium: $150/day, all travel expenses related to BC Team duties
