It is with great sadness, but also tremendous gratitude for his years of service, that Karate BC announces the resignation of Fernando Correia as its Provincial Advisor to the BC Games.
For almost a decade Karate BC has had the distinct honour of having Fernando Correia as its Provincial Advisor to the BC Games. For those formative years, Fernando was known to put his heart and soul into making karate shine at the Games, and was loved and respected by both their employees and volunteers.
Fernando started the Junior Official program for the Games back in 2004, and despite being unable to attend those Games in Port Alberni due to serious illness, he continued to assist where he could so that this program could blossom. Subsequently, the program was a great success with many of those junior officials now sitting as senior officials and even National/International level officials. Fernando also went on to create the Junior Coaching program at the BC Winter Games. As a result of Fernando’s exceptional hard work and tireless efforts, many of today’s provincial, national and international athletes, coaches and officials benefited from participating in the BC Winter Games.
Karate BC has been extremely fortunate to be able to have Fernando at its BC Games reins for so many years, and we recognize his hard work and significant accomplishments that he has made along the way. He will be truly missed, but we wish him all the best with his future endeavors.
