On May 23rd and 24th, the West Coast of Canada welcomed 2-time WKF World Champion, 7-time AAU Kumite Grand Champion, and 10-time USA-NKF Kumite Champion, GEORGE KOTAKA, for a series of seminars held in Vancouver and Courtenay, British Columbia.
The 2-day seminar comprised of three different classes each day: Junior class, Competition-focused sparing class, and Adult class. George Sensei’s clear and well-presented style of teaching enabled students of all levels to learn how to master sophisticated fighting techniques and advanced footwork. He had great explanations of the “why” you move your head or your body a certain way (or NOT move it that way!) which gave students an excellent grasp of the technique and a great way to remember the right way to do it.
For those of you who haven’t met George Kotaka Sensei before, he was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and currently teaches at several dojos on the Island of Oahu and focuses on traditional karate style training and mentoring Karate Ka around the World. Organized by the Shito-Ryu Seiko-Kai Canada organization, karate students were treated to learning from a true World Champion and fine individual.
The inspiring sessions were well received by all and we here on the West Coast of Canada would welcome George Sensei again anytime. Oos.
