Overview:
Karate BC is seeking dynamic, motivated, and experienced individuals for the BC Team coaching positions. This is an excellent opportunity for coaches to gain both provincial and national coaching experience while helping guide our athletes to success at the 2025 Karate Canada National Championships. Successful candidates will play a key role in facilitating high-performance preparation and supporting our athletes at this crucial junior and senior team selection event.

Responsibilities:
Facilitate coaching duties at Team Trainings and the Karate Canada National Championships.
Support and coach BC Team athletes under the Head Coach’s direction during Nationals.
Supervise BC Team athletes at the hotel and during Nationals training and competition.
Oversee and coach athletes at the Team Selection event.
Attend full BC Team training days and selected regional training sessions.
Review athlete YTP forms and provide written feedback.
Actively collaborate and communicate with the Team Manager, Head Coach, Assistant Coaches, athletes, parents, and club coaches.
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of team performance, highlighting strengths and opportunities for improvement while reinforcing Karate BC’s high-performance pathway.
Uphold Karate BC’s values of inclusivity, integrity, and community, fostering a positive experience for all participants.
Safe Sport Commitment:
Karate BC is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive training and competition environment. Coaches are expected to promote ethical conduct, create healthy physical and mental environments for sport participation, and report any issues related to abuse, harassment, bullying, or discrimination in accordance with Safe Sport principles.
Supervision:
The selected coaches will report directly to the BC Team Head Coach and be responsible to Karate BC’s Executive Committee through the High Performance Committee Chair.
Required Qualifications:
Karate BC member in good standing.
Experience coaching kata and/or kumite at the Karate Canada Nationals, BC Winter Games, or equivalent.
Experience training high-performance karate athletes.
NCCP certification: Minimum of Comp-Dev or Comp-Intro Certified or Trained, or the ability to attain either status before Nationals.
Note: The ratio of certified coaches will be in accordance with Karate Canada’s guidelines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Effective administrative, organizational, and collaborative skills.
Completed BC Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check within the last three years. Note: Karate BC will reimburse the expense if required.
Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct.
Optional asset: Strength and Conditioning coaching certification and experience.
Honorarium:
$225/day plus all travel expenses related to BC Team duties.
