COURSE DESCRIPTIONThe NCCP Competition Introduction course is a 2-day workshop that is designed for instructors and coaches who wish to increase their knowledge in the competition stream. It is intended for those who wish to analyze competitive performance of athletes, or become a coach at the provincial level, or for the BC Winter Games. The course will take participants through various modules that cover teaching and learning styles, analyzing performance, supporting the competitive experience, tournament formats, performance profiling, mental preparation and nutrition. Those who complete this course will be considered Competition-Introduction Trained and may go on to become Certified by completing tasks 1-6 of the coach portfolio. For those wishing to be assistant coaches on the BC Team or for the BC Winter Games, the Competition-Introduction Trained course is a requirement, while head coaches must be Competition-Introduction Certified.
