We are pleased to announce Jonathan Wornell as the new Executive Director for Karate BC effective July 1, 2015. Jonathan will be taking over from former Executive Director, past president, and long time Board member of Karate BC, Dan Wallis.
Jonathan offers a unique business background that has been built in the corporate as well as the not-for-profit sector. Jonathan is passionate about sport and about creating opportunities for participation as well as high performance and grass roots development.
He has worked closely with Provincial Sport Organizations such as Cycling BC and BC Athletics as well as numerous civic departments, and corporate partners, to produce and manage major sporting events such as the Vancouver International Marathon, various high level cycling events and championships, and the World Police and Fire Games to name a few.
Aside from his expertise in strategic planning, partnership/stakeholder liason, financial management, grant writing, organizational policy, and event production, Jonathan also brings to the table a technical background in electrical engineering.
Currently, he sits on the Board of Directors for Kidsport YVR (a funding program for children with financial barriers to be able to participate in organized sport) and coaches his children in little league baseball. His enthusiasm and passion for sport as well as his sense of humor and professionalism are well known. He looks forward to using these skills while serving Karate BC as this organization moves forward in the coming years.
