Twenty-one Karate BC athletes will be representing Canada this week (August 21-27) at the 2023 PKF Junior Karate Championships. These dedicated young karate athletes, ranging in age from 12 to 20, qualified for the Canadian National Karate Team at the National Championships last month. Now these athletes will be competing for Canada at the continental championships, being held this year in Santiago, Chile:

Supporting the Canadian athletes as part of the Team Canada coaching staff will be KBC members Pam Ross (Head Kata Coach) and Rodney Hobson (Sport Technical Leader). Club coaches Kraig Devlin, Hamid Tarighatbin, and Julie Zilber will also be in Santiago to support their athletes.
Reflecting the high level of refereeing in BC, two of our outstanding KBC referees – Trevor Walmsley and Shirin Davarpanah – will also be in Santiago to officiate at the tournament.
