Due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, Karate BC has had to make the unfortunate decision to cancel this course.
Karate Canada is pleased to be offering a National level Officials Certification Course on April 4th, 2020, in Vancouver, BC.
All Canadian National level officials or those who wish to upgrade from Provincial Referee to National license should attend.
The Process for Certification for Canadians at the National level:
- Provincial Referee License (pre-requisite)
- Attend a Regional Clinic
- Written Test
- Practical Evaluation (kata and kumite)
Canadian Provincial Judges and Referees who do not qualify, or do not wish to take the test, may audit the course.

- Registration is available on the day of the event, but cash only and $20 extra fee applies.
Fees:
Fees for Karate BC Officials only – these fees are heavily subsidized by Karate BC:
- National Clinic (audit): $50 (usually $100)
- National Clinic + Exam: $100 (usually $150)
NOTE: $20 additional fee for day-of registrations. Day-of registration is strictly cash only.

Minimum Requirements:
- Candidates will preform one Kata to the satisfaction of the Officials Committee.
- Pre-Requisites:
- National Judge B – Provincial Referee, Minimum Age 19 & Shodan
- National Judge A – National Referee B, Minimum Age 21 & Shodan
- National Referee B – National Judge B, Minimum Age 21 & Nidan
- National Referee A – National Judge A, Minimum Age 21 & Nidan
Seminar Participant Instructions:
- Bring Karate gi, Officials Manual, and notebook
- Online officiating exams MUST be completed successfully (passing grade required) prior to attempting certification (exam links will be sent after registration).
- Kumite Examinations – Passing Grade:
- Judge B – 80%
- Judge A – 85%
- Referee B – 90%
- Referee A – 90%
- Kata Examinations – Passing Grade: 90%
- Please bring an internet capable device.

- Completion of certification will occur after a successful practical certification test at the next tournament offering this test. The next opportunity for this will be at the Karate Canada Junior National Championships – May 1-3, 2020.
