We are now less than 2 weeks away from travelling to Halifax for the Karate Canada National Championships. On behalf of the coaching staff, we are very excited to see you perform to the best of your ability along with Canada’s elite karate-ka.
Below you will find new information for our athletes and families. If you have any questions, please ask in advance.

KARATE CANADA BULLETINS:
- Please stay up to date with bulletins constantly revised and released on Karate Canada’s website: click HERE.
- Notes included in last bulletin: no red/blue shoulder embroidery, use of seeding, elimination formats, and more.
WELCOMING CEREMONY:
- For 2018, KC will be hosting a Welcoming Ceremony at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 9th.
- This will replace the standard opening ceremony and allow for efficient transport of accredited participants from the hotels to the venue.
- Athletes are required to be in full tracksuit.
BUS TRANSPORTATION (HOTEL / VENUE / HOTEL):
- Karate Canada will be providing complimentary bus transportation to accredited participants.
- Six buses have been contracted each day for three hours in the morning, and three in the afternoon. A round trip per bus is estimated to be roughly 55-60 minutes.
- If you are competing in the first two divisions of the day, you catch the first bus available. Other athletes will catch the 2nd and 3rd buses.
- Tentative Bus Hotel Departure Schedule
- Please note that all buses will depart from and return to the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront.
- First round: 6:30 AM
- Second round: 7:30 AM
- Third round: 8:30 AM
FRIENDS & FAMILY TRANSPORTATION:
- Karate Canada has explored transportation options for non-accredited people, such as friends and family. However, a bus rental would be close to $25/pp, per day and likely cost prohibitive for most. As such, cost-sharing a taxi would be the most economical option.
Below are suggested local taxi companies:
- Casino Taxi – also has an app; and
- Yellow Cab
BREAKFAST AND LUNCH (competition days):
- As the accredited delegation will be departing exclusively from the Halifax Marriott Waterfront, the hotel has agreed to open Balancing Rock Coffee House for quick-serve breakfasts on the go. This is in addition to their full-service restaurant, Harbourstone. Both have graciously agreed to open earlier for our group, at 6:00 am.
- Balancing Rock Coffee House will have a variety of breakfast sandwiches and pastries that range in price from CAD 3.00- CAD 7.00 + tax.
- The Canada Games Centre features a Subway restaurant which is available for breakfasts, lunches and snacks. Save time by downloading the Subway app for iPhone/iPad and Android.
SPORTS MASSAGE:
- We have hired a local sports therapist to be available for free to all athletes of the BC Team only.
- They will operate out of their own business, Lifemark, located less than 5 minutes walk indoor using the pedway.
- This will be available for 3 hours Wednesday and Thursday on a first-come-first-serve basis.
