Introduction
The BC Winter Games are British Columbia’s premier multi-sport event, taking place every 2 years in a Host Community in B.C. This event is organized by the BC Games Society and Karate BC, and is primarily funded by the Province of British Columbia and through corporate sponsorship.
Greater Vernon will host the 31st BC Winter Games from February 24-27, 2022. 2,000 athletes, coaches, and officials from 17 different sports, as well as 1,800 local volunteers are expected to participate in these Games.
The BC Games have evolved from being an event about participation to now focusing on athlete and sport development in communities across B.C. The BC Games encourages province-wide participation, and provides opportunities for sport participants to experience high-performance competition that may act as a springboard to National and International events, including National Championships, the Canada Games, the Pan American Games, and all the way up to the Olympic Games.
