We have spoken with our insurer and we have expanded the concept of what is a normal activity for a karate club. You now do not need a sanction form when you run select fundraising events or social events such as Christmas parties or year-end awards nights. If you train outdoors that is now considered part of your normal karate club activities as long as they are directly supervised by the club instructor.
You must do due diligence of course: the fund raising events we are referring to are silent auctions, hot dog sales, chocolate sales and the like. At your social events there are not to be physical activities associated with them: such as holding a Christmas party at a local ski hill and, of course, no alcohol at any of the social events.
Sports & Social Activities Endorsement
It is understood and agreed that the insurance provided by this policy with respect to the playing of or taking part in practicing or training for sports shall apply only to sanctioned events as described below:
Sanctioned events shall mean all games, competitions or sports demonstrations run by you or by member clubs authorized by you including related training at sites of events and club premises. Authorization can either be by way of a written procedure manual or specific agreement in writing by your authorized executives.
It is also understood and agreed that social and/or fundraising activities shall be covered, but only if there is no alcohol at the event and no physical/athletic activity.
All social/fundraising events must be supervised by the club chief instructor or other chief instructor from the club.
