Sensei Robert Sheng, May 29 1924 – June 16 2015

Shito-ryu Seikokai is mourning the loss of Sensei Robert Sheng. A man who was humble and kind. He simply wanted to be known as just, “Robert”, however Sensei Robert Sheng was the most senior in age (91) and rank under Sensei Sato’s organization. He was also a Qigong master. Sensei Robert passed away peacefully in the morning of June 16th. In the early years of Karate BC, he officiated at many tournaments and was known for his fairness and clear observation. Not many knew that he did so with only one eye. Sensei Robert Sheng epitomized what it is to be a karate-ka who practiced karate-DO. As you wished, we came to know you as “Robert”. All karate-ka who have passed your way, thank you for being an example of what we can be.
