Karate BC is thrilled to announce the formation of the BCWG Special Sub-Committee under the Tournament Committee. This dynamic initiative aims to ensure inclusive representation, enhance decision-making, and elevate the planning and execution of future BC Winter Games, particularly the 2026 event in Trail/Rossland from February 26 to March 1, 2026.

This is your chance to make a significant impact! As a member of this committee, you will:
- Influence Key Decisions: Ensure all key groups have a voice in the planning process.
- Drive Success: Contribute to informed and diverse decision-making.
- Foster Community: Enhance communication and engagement across our Karate BC community.
- Collaborate with Leaders: Assist the Provincial Advisor and Tournament Director in planning and executing the Games.
Open Positions:
We are seeking passionate and dedicated volunteers for the following positions:
- Zone Representative: Be the liaison for all zones, coordinating efforts and communication between the zones and the committee.
- Parent of an Athlete: Share insights and perspectives to improve the athlete experience.
- Former Athlete: Bring your firsthand experience and inspire the next generation.
- Club Coach: Provide your expertise in training and development.
- Current Board Member: Contribute your strategic oversight and governance skills.
In addition to these volunteer positions, the committee will include:
- One Hosting Zone Representative (already determined)
- One Assistant Hosting Zone Representative (appointed by the hosting zone)
- One Referee (appointed by the Referee Chair or President)
- One Member from the Tournament Committee (appointed by the Chair of the Tournament Committee)
Timeline:
- July 29: Position postings go live
- August 10: Application deadline
- August 16: Selection process concludes
- Late August: First committee meeting
Responsibilities:
Initially, the duties will be light, focusing on planning and organizing throughout the fall of 2024. As we move into 2025, the responsibilities will increase, involving more meetings and active engagement in the preparation for the 2026 BC Winter Games. We are seeking volunteers now to ensure ample time for planning and to build a strong foundation for our success.

Interested candidates should submit their applications to info@karatebc.org by August 10, 2024, including a brief paragraph about themselves and why they want to be part of this dynamic team. Please note that selected candidates will need to commit to serving on the committee for the full term. If certain positions remain unfilled, Karate BC will consider appointing suitable candidates or adapting the committee structure as needed.
