Due to the lack of a suitable venue in December and schedule conflicts with many people involved in the running of the selection tournament for the 12/13 year old athletes, we have had to change the date to Sunday, November 30th immediately following the BC Team training.
There have also been many questions from parents and club instructors so I will attempt to answer some of them here for all of you. If there are any other questions please do not hesitate to email coach Mike Ditson at mikeditson@icloud.com
Q. Where is the team training and tournament?
A. At the Fortius Centre: 3713 Kensington Ave, Burnaby, BC
Q. When is the training and tournament and what is the schedule?
A. All athletes must be at the Fortius Centre at 8:00am both Saturday and Sunday, November 29 & 30. Training on Saturday will run until approximately 4:00pm. Training on Sunday will go till 2:00pm. The 12/13 selection tournament will run immediately after training on Sunday and should be wrapped up before 5:00pm.
Q. What is the cost?
A. The BC Team training fees are $35 per day, so $70 for the weekend. There is also a $50 fee for registration into the tournament. All these fees can be paid by cash or cheque with the BC Team Manager at the training or by credit card through the KBC office.
Q. Are there other training sessions?
A. The next BC Team training session is January 10/11 at the Fortius Centre. Team training fees are the same as the other training dates. This training is open to all the 12/13 year old athletes whether they make it to the Nationals or not.
Q. Do the 12/13 year old athletes pay the Karate Canada cost share?
A. No. There will be registration fees for the Nationals and possibly some others but we do not have all the information yet. We will update everyone when we have more information.
Q. How many athletes can BC send per division?
A. At the beginning it will only be the top 2 from each division. If Karate Canada has open spots in a division they will let us know and we may have the opportunity to add additional athletes. They will be added in order from the results of the selection tournament.
