On behalf of the BC Team Coaching Staff we would like to extend our excitement to be a part of your journey this year with the BC Team.
For those new to the BC Team, or those who need a refresher please note the following:
Where do I get information?
- www.karatebc.org
- All the BC Team policies, dates, and information are located on the Karate BC website under the “BC Team” heading. There you will see the Team Program, Team Handbook, and Communications (a log of all information emails sent to the entire team).
What’s next?
- Ensure you are registered in your preferred elite division for the Karate BC Provincial Championships, Deadline is tomorrow.
- If you place top 4 at the Provincials you will earn grand prix points.
- The other competition that you can earn points in is the Junior Team Selection Tournament on March 7, 2020.
What is the schedule for all the team trainings? Are they mandatory?
- The full schedule for the Junior BC Team is found in the Team Program HERE.
- All team training sessions are mandatory.
New policies:
- Team Handbook
- There are additions to the handbook this year so kindly review. One change is as follows:
3.0 a) Exemptions from Team Training or Competitions
i. Exemptions from mandatory team activities due to exceptional circumstances may include, but are not limited to:
• Recent death in the immediate family (within 1 (one) month prior to the start of the Camp or Competition);
• Injury limiting participation and/or performance;
• Pregnancy; or
• Infectious disease
ii. Requests made prior to 7 calendar days prior to start of event to be sent to and decided by the Team Director.
iii. Requests made within 7 calendar days prior to start of event to be sent to the Team Director and decided by the High Performance Committee.
iv. Notification of such an event must include details of the circumstances along with any supporting evidence scanned and/or emailed to the Karate BC Team Director.
